Obituary of Herbert Christian Scheelk

Herbert Scheelk passed away peacefully Monday evening at Good Samaritan Society Robbinsdale, under the exceptional care of their staff and North Memorial Hospice. He was born on July 2, 1922 in Detroit Lakes, the son of Herman and Emma Scheelk. He was a Navy Veteran and served at Normandy on DDay. After discharge from the navy, Herb worked small appliance repairs, then he moved to the Medical Arts building, taking care of their elevators. He then worked for Elevator Inc., and then moved to Westinghouse Elevators, for 23 years until retirement. He is preceded in death by his 1st wife Mary Keenan of 48 years and his 2nd wife Dorothy Raymond of 16 years. Herb is survived by his daughters Barbara (Rick) Carlson, and Sharon (Ron) Whitaker, daughter in law Alison Scheelk and numerous grandchildren, great and great, great grandchildren. In addition to his wives, Herb is preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Bergren and husband Jim, son Wayne Scheelk, daughter Susan Scheelk and step daughter Barb Newstrom and husband Mike.

Funeral Services will be held February 26th at Faith Lilac Way Lutheran Church, Robbinsdale, MN. Visitation at 10:00 am and services to be held at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herb’s name to: Faith Lilac Way Lutheran church or North Memorial Hospice.
