Obituary of Dorothy Flint
Dorothy Lucille Flint, age 89, passed from this earth on January 21st, 2022, at the Benedictine Living Community in Duluth, Minnesota, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, and her dearest companion dog, Luna.
Born to Clayton and Francis Shurlow in Hastings, Michigan, Dorothy most treasured her roles as wife to Gene Russell Flint (deceased 2013), mother to Julie Kristin Flint (Duluth, Minnesota) and David Norman Flint (Melissa Leggitt-Flint) (Wimberly, Texas), and grandmother to Levi David Flint (Reni Cendejas-Flint) (Austin, Texas), Austin Russell Flint (Lauren Bass-Flint) (Austin Texas), and Hilarie Lauren Sorensen (Miles Ringsred) (Duluth, Minnesota), and most recently as Great Gram to Daniel Austin Flint (Austin & Lauren Flint, Austin, Texas.) Dorothy worked over 30 years at Kellogg Company in Battle Creek as an Administrative Assistant. She studied to be a teacher at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was a horse enthusiast with the Michigan Trail Riders Association, an active member of Saints Cyril & Methodious Parish in Gun Lake, Michigan, and a loving keeper of many cats and dogs. Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters, Marilyn Shurlow and Patricia (Patty) Shurlow-Burd, and by her brother Robert (Bob) Shurlow. She leaves behind her beloved sister, Cathleen (Cathy) Shurlow-White, her siblings' children, and their children, as well as her sister-in-law, Bonnie Flint-Metcalf (Ron), and her children, and brother-in-law, James (Jim) Marvin Flint, and his children, both from Battle Creek, Michigan.
Ceremonies will be privately held in accordance with Dorothy's wishes.
