Obituary of Shirley Ann Karpe

Shirley Ann Owens Marker Karpe, age 87, passed away on January 10, 2022 at Eagle Street assisted living/memory care in Coon Rapids, MN.

Shirley was born near Chicago on January 4, 1935. She moved to Minnesota and graduated from St Louis Park High School. She married her first husband, Tom Marker, and had one daughter, Becky. She worked at Dayton’s make-up counter in Minneapolis, before moving to Anoka Electric Company-now Connexus Energy. After being widowed, she remarried Neil Karpe. She enjoyed being involved in the Anoka City council, Zion Lutheran Church, and the the International Bible Givers society. She gardened, and enjoyed feeding the ducks in her yard.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Marker, daughter Becky Marker, and husband Neil Karpe. She is survived by Step-daughters Ellen (Kevin) Rustad, and Lois (Tony) Jung, Sister and Sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren whom she thought were the smartest little ones ever!

Special thanks to her dear friends, Laurie and Mac, and their family for all their loving care and concern for her during her life.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 29, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka, at 11 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to service. Per the church policy, masks are required and there will be no luncheon served.
