Obituary of Gordon Wallace Thoreson Jr.

Gordon Wallace Thoreson Jr. of Duluth passed away at the age of 77 on Monday December 27th. Gordy was born on February 17th, 1944, to Adlyne and Gordon Thoreson Sr. He served in the navy right out of high school and was a Duluth firefighter for 28 years.

He spent many years following local dirt track racers and would rarely miss a race. Rick Long, Rick Popovich, Dan Kingsley and Darrell Nelson were among his favorites.

He was also a fixture at area golf courses and bowling alleys. He had a core group of friends he golfed and bowled with.

Gordy is preceded in death by his father Gordon Sr. and his stepfather John Dardis.

Gordy is survived by his three sons David (Anne), Bryan (Julie), and John (Tiffany). Four grandchildren Emily, Kasey, Riley and Skyler. Mother Adlyne, siblings Darla (Gary), Rick and Kyle (Ann). As well as stepsiblings John and Bruce. And many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Gordy will be missed by all who knew him. A celebration of life to be held at a date in the future.
