Obituary of Kerry Jon Kemppainen
Beloved son and brother, Kerry Jon Kemppainen, passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 64.
Kerry was born in Minneapolis to Virginia and Nels Elmer Kemppainen. He lived with three longtime housemates in Mount Olivet Rolling Acres’ Glen Lake group home and spent his workdays with friends at Choice, Inc. Our family would especially like to thank the staff and individuals of MORA and Choice for their support of Kerry. With several of you, Kerry had relationships spanning multiple decades. We, and he, appreciate it very much.
Kerry had a unique personality and a distinctive way of communicating. He was social, mischievous, and sensitive to the feelings of others. He loved being around babies and young kids. Christmas, and all its commotion, was his favorite holiday. However, he was never more content than when he was at the lake taking a boat ride or just sitting on the dock watching whatever was going on.
Kerry was preceded in death by his father, Elmer. He is survived by his mother Ginny, brothers Chip (Debbie) and Kurt, several nephews, nieces, and cousins. A celebration of life will be announced later. Memorials are preferred to Mount Olivet Rolling Acres (mtolivetrollingacres.org) or Choice, Inc. (choicejobs.org/donate).
