Obituary of Khao Phratsachack

Khao (Dumlongdeth) Phratsachack, of Bloomington Minnesota, passed away at Southdale Fairview Hospital on December 26, 2021 after an extended battle with cancer-related illness surrounded by her loving family.

Khao was born in Dong Muang, Laos on October 5, 1954 and journeyed to America in 1979 where she worked as a chef at Siam; the first Thai restaurant in Minnesota. In 1995 her passion for cooking lead her to open a Thai restaurant with friends in the Minneapolis Seward neighborhood.

In 2018, she retired due to illness and spent her time gardening and caring for her family. She loved growing heirloom Thai chili peppers and other seasonal vegetables as time allowed. She often shared her harvest with family and friends. She also enjoyed family gatherings, travelling and was a devoted member of the Minnesota Meditation Center located in Osseo.

Khao is survived by her husband Bounhom, daughters Jany and Chanokphon Chaiyachan, son Kethmany, and grandson Gavin.

Service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 3 pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota - 4343 Nicollet, Minneapolis, MN 55409
