Obituary of Carl E. Nelson, Jr.

Nelson, Carl E., Jr. Age 85 of St Paul. Born and raised in Beresford, SD, surrounded by a large extended family, Carl went on to attend USD. At school, he worked as a radio announcer and kindled his interest in baseball. Carl served in the Army in Germany, where he fell in love with Gerda. He later received his master's in International Relations from GWU, and he and Gerda settled in St Paul to raise their two daughters. After retiring from the U, Carl and Gerda moved to Ramsey Hill, finding a home in the community and opening Box Office Video, which became a neighborhood hub. Carl made many friends through his dedication to neighborhood politics and service. Preceded in death by wife, Gerda; parents, Carl and Hazel; and son in law, Greg Gruber. Survived by siblings, Alice (Don), Jim (Kathy), Peter (Carol), John (Dave); daughters, Kirsten Frost (Jon) and Jennifer Gruber (Cory); and granddaughter, Isabella Frost.
