Obituary of Ruth Gubrud

Ruth Gubrud, age 97, passed away December 14th, 2021.

Ruth was born near Bagley, Minnesota to George P. and Emma (Baumann) Anderson on December 12, 1924. She grew up on a farm north of town and was among the younger of nine children. Life growing up during the depression was hard but there was always plenty of food and lots of love and laughter.

Ruth was united in marriage to Gordon Gubrud on July 25, 1945. They were married for 58 years until Gordon’s death in 2003. Together they raised three sons.

Ruth is survived by her sons Kevin (Brenda) Gubrud, Brian (Theresa) Gubrud and Jeff (Tina) Gubrud; grandchildren Aaron (Beth) Gubrud, Samantha Bolger, John Gubrud, Dan (Kelsey) Gubrud; great grandchildren Ellyn and Lauren Gubrud, Evie and Hadley Gubrud; sisters Delpha Close, Orphie Shellum; sister-in-law Helen Anderson and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Anderson; her husband Gordon; sisters Goldie Friborg, Ruby Oien, Pearl Osgood, Florence Haagenstad; brothers Wallace Anderson, Lionel Anderson and daughter-in-law Robin Gubrud.

Interment will be at a later date in the Bagley City Cemetery beside her husband.
