Obituary of Violetta Alice Rootkie

Rootkie, Violetta (Vi) A. age 96, of NE Mpls., passed away Dec. 9, 2021. Born on Nov. 30, 1925 in South Heart, ND. The family moved to Hinckley, MN during the great depression.

Vi is preceded in death by her parents Charles & Lydia (Lenz) Baldwin; husband, Martin (Marty); daughter, Ginger Lee Wojtowicz; siblings, Loretta, Charlotte, Roberta, Leroy, Gary, and Geneva. Survived by her son, Brian (Deb); son-in-law, Stosh; grandchildren, Cory, Gary and Shari; great grandchildren, Kellee, Hailee, Chris and Cory James; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Doug (Birdie) Baldwin; also Lance and many nieces and nephews.

Vi and Marty met on the dance floor in Hinckley, MN and continued that passion for dancing throughout their marriage. She was an excellent hostess, cook, baker, and seamstress. She also ran a drapery business in her home for many years, creating beautiful window coverings for many people within her community. Her customers were recommended by others because of her outstanding quality.

Heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Catholic Eldercare on Main for the compassionate care they provided to Vi during the last 5 years of her life on the 3rd floor memory unit.
