Obituary of Stephen Poupore
Stephen “Steve” “Bud” Poupore, age 81, died suddenly on 11/29/21. He was born 9/7/40 in Duluth to Charles and Sylvia Poupore and was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Paula Eiker of Burnsville, MN, and his nephews and niece, Gregory (Barb Aspin) Eiker, Steven (Robbie) Eiker, and Tracy Ferris, all of the Twin Cities. He is also survived by his great nieces Kaitlyn Ferris and Lily Eiker.
Steve graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1958 and Valparaiso Technical Institute in Valparaiso, IN, in 1963. He spent his entire working life in Chicago, beginning as an engineer for Tono Tapes and later as a Manufacturing Engineer, Director of Facilities Engineering and Plant Manager for Federal Mogul. During his working career he made several long-term trips to China and he returned with a fund of extremely interesting stories to share. He retired in 2006 and returned to Duluth.
He was enthusiastic about many things, including trap shooting which took him to several countries, building exacting engineered models, biking, box kites, old vehicles, and reading on many subjects. He also led several parades in his WWII jeep that he had restored. He had a sharp sense of humor and strong opinions on almost any subject which made him a very interesting person to have around. Underneath his gruff exterior he had a heart of gold and was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Per his request, no services are planned. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
