Obituary of Lawrence Richard Mannhardt
Larry was born on Oct. 11, 1954, to Marjorie and Robert Mannhardt in Rochester, N.Y.
At the age of 7, his mother died and Larry began honing his cooking skills.
In high school, he worked himself up to captain of the lacrosse team. During his junior year, because of his dad's love of jazz music, he began playing the trombone.
He graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston. As it's hard to make it in life as a trombone player, Larry went back to his first love of cooking. During this time, he met his wife, Debbie, in Aspen, CO. They moved to St. Paul in 1991 to be closer to her family.
Later in life, Larry was a rural letter carrier in Woodbury and he always said the best part of his job was seeing his dog friends. In addition to cooking and music, Larry also loved SCUBA diving in many tropical places.
Larry is preceded in death by his mother, father, his dog Buzz and cat Beans. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debbie (Meier); brother, Robert Mannhardt; mother and father-in-law Jan and Bob Meier.
Debbie would like to thank everyone at the U of M for his wonderful health care over the past years.
Due to COVID, a celebration of life will be at a later date.
