Obituary of Dorothy M Krabbe
Dorothy M. Krabbe, age 99, of Duluth, MN died November 17, 2021 at Heritage Haven in Duluth. She was born May 19, 1922 in Duluth, to parents, Carl and Alma Gustafson. She graduated from Denfeld High School and Business School.
She married her beloved husband, Arne Krabbe and they were together for 64 years. She gave her service to the war effort building airplanes as Rosie the Rivertor. She worked for Bell Telephone Company as an operator after the war and later as a grocery clerk for Shopper’s City.
She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church and Retail Clerks Union. In earlier years, she loved traveling with Arne, playing poker with her Poker Club, snowmobiling with friends, family camping, and going to the cabin.
She loved to knit and made numerous dishcloths, slippers and hats for family and friends. You could always see her doing her crossword puzzle books and playing her poker machine. Her favorite foods were bismarcks and pizza, cut in triangles only, along with a martini with two olives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arne Krabbe; parents, Carl and Alma Gustafson; brother, Ray Gustafson, brother, Dick Gustafson; sister, Helen Forsman; grandson, Daniel Schiefelbein; son-in-law, LeRoy Gruwell.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Gruwell, Jan Krabbe, Dee (Jim) Kneeland, Liz (Alan) Schiefelbein; numerous grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was so proud to tell everyone that she had 4 daughters, 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Duluth, 4100 Grand Ave.
