Obituary of Mary Ellen Kochevar

Kochevar, Mary Ellen (Serrano) of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on November 10 at the age of 85. Born July 23, 1936 in Buhl to a large Italian family, Mary Ellen always emphasized the importance of family and food as a means to bring people together. Whether it be family, friends, neighbors, or strangers, she always had a seat at her table for great food and conversation. Her joyful spirit, nurturing demeanor, steadfast loyalty, and warm sense of humor will be greatly missed by all those whose lives were touched by Mary Ellen. Mary Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Kochevar, and their children, Anne (Greg) Kurowski, John Kochevar, and Dan Kochevar. Mary Ellen and James are blessed with five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Beana (Ken) Mueller and Trishie (Earl) LaChance, and sister-inlaw Rosie Serrano. Preceded in death by her parents Pasquale and Julia Serrano and siblings Pat Serrano, Tona Swanson, and Janet Johnson. Memorial service to be held on Wednesday November 24 at The Cremation Society of Minnesota – Edina at 11:00 am, visitation at 10:30 am, luncheon to follow service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations please be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Minnesota/North Dakota Chapter).
