Obituary of Doris Jean Gilbert

Doris Jean Peshina Gilbert was born June 20, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN and died peacefully holding her son’s hand on November 8, 2021 in Bloomington, MN due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 82.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Gilbert, and parents, Ed and Agnes Peshina.

Doris is survived by her son: Dennis (Denise) Gilbert, siblings: Jim (Linda) Peshina, Shirley (Sid) Rhinehart, nieces and nephews: Deb (Trevor) Brown, Doug (Jenny) Peshina, Amy (Shaun) Fontaine, 10 great nieces and nephews, 1 great-great nephew, and her beloved cat, Smokey.

Doris graduated from Washburn High School, class of 1957 and spent most of her career as an executive secretary at National Car Rental. She lived for a time in Hawaii and San Francisco but returned to Minnesota to raise her family.

She loved word puzzles, sudoku and playing computer games with people around the world - including playing a strong zombie ruining machine in the game Quarantine 2019. She had a large library of mystery novels, most of which she read multiple times.
