Obituary of Cheryl Anderson Zuck

Cheryl Anderson Zuck

Cheryl passed away at home on November 6, 2021, after a 5-year battle with colon cancer. Cheryl was born October 20, 1959, to Catherine and LeRoy Anderson in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Edina High School in 1978 and from the University of Minnesota in 1984. In 1987, she married husband Doug, and they lived a wonderful 34 years together in Minnetonka and Eden Prairie.

Cheryl had a positive spirit that radiated throughout her life and to all those she met. In her early years, she channeled this positivity into dance. She took lessons at a young age and became a proud Edina Hornette in high school. She studied biology at the University of Minnesota, though she may have actually taken more classes in modern dance than science. She continued to spread the joy of dance every minute she could, whether it be at home with her daughters or in the middle of a golf course fairway. Cheryl also had a love for nature and the world around her. She became a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines in 1984, and worked for the airline (now Delta Airlines) for 36 years before retiring in 2020. She enjoyed exploring new cities on layovers and discovering hidden gems on road trips. Cheryl also loved spending time in Arizona, walking along the canal, picking lemons, trying new restaurants, exploring trails, and swimming in the pool at her family’s home in Scottsdale.

Cheryl always said that her greatest achievement in life was being a mom to three gorgeous daughters. She met husband Doug after college, and together they raised three girls and two dogs. Cheryl loved to spend time with her girls doing just about anything, including baking, playing games, watching romantic comedies, crafting, reading, shopping, doing at-home workout videos, and more. She instilled a love of science and nature in each of her daughters, which has been carried forward throughout their lives and careers. Cheryl welcomed her first granddaughter into the world on November 2, 2021. Her love of being a mother has been passed on to the next generation.

Preceded in death by parents Catherine (Kitty) and LeRoy (Lee). Survived by husband Doug; sisters Cindy (John) Gorsen, Lori (Mike) Derickson; daughters Taylor (James Drury) Zuck, Jessa Zuck, and Cameron Zuck; granddaughter Lila Drury; and many nieces and nephews.
