Obituary of Jack Rose, Jr.
Arthur Jon (Jack) Rose Jr., 83, of Duluth Township MN, died Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at St. Lukes with family and friends by his side. He was born on December 27, 1937 to Arthur and Maxine (Nee Esterly) Rose at St. Mary’s. Weighing less than 3 lbs. he was one of the smallest premature babies to survive at the time. Jack graduated Clover Valley High School in 1957. He worked multiple jobs before being drafted into the U.S. Army. Following his service he worked at Reserve Mining in Silver Bay until it shut down. In addition to his day job, he worked at the Two Harbors Machine shop. He joined the Millwright Union and continued working until retirement. He was a “Jack” of all trades and a master of many.
As hard as he worked he played even harder. He was a charter member of the Thunderbirds Motor Cycle Club established in 1967. He has been known for his legendary beef & pig roast parties, potato salad, and infamous apple pie. Wherever he went there was music, laughter, and fellowship.
Jack married Catherine Shea in 1961. They had three daughters. In 1995 he met his partner and love, Lois Weideman - they were together until the end.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Ethel & Marie. He is survived by his love, Lois; daughters, Bonnie Rose (Peter Frothingham), Jacqueline La Belle (Tony), Jenine Boger (Jim), and Gina Campainge; grandchildren Suon, Adrian, Jedidiah, Maxine, Gelasia, Sarah, Thaddeus, Gabe, Samantha, Anderson, Jesse, Annie, & Aurora; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Lucas, Caden, William & Samuel; sister Sandra Rose-Coolidge, and too many other cherished family, friends, & club members to name.
There will be two celebrations of life. A small memorial will be held at the Moose Lodge 1463 in Two Harbors on Sunday October 31 from 2-5pm. In summer of 2022 there will be a warm weather celebration that will end at Jack’s place for a final hurrah.
