Popehn, Arthur John

Age 101 of Plymouth, MN went home to be with the Lord  on October 8, 2021.  Born December 27, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN to Albert and Anna Popehn. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Joanne; son, Tom; infant daughter; daughter-in-law, Cathy and brothers Fran and Dick.  He is survived by three children, John, Peggy (Steve) Carlson, Jim; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Mary Crowley and many nieces & nephews.

Art was a proud WWII Navy Aviator veteran where he learned his love of flying. He was the founder of MidContinent Engineering and Hiawatha Rubber Company.  Art’s life was marked by a strong sense of duty to his Catholic faith, family, self-sacrifice and hard work. Art’s Depression Era frugality and discipline was balanced with generosity towards others, especially the catholic community.

In accordance with Art’s wishes, a private family Mass will be held and Art will be laid to rest next to Joanne at Getheseme Cemetery.

Memorials preferred to The Catholic Community Foundation or Dunwoody College of Technology.
