Obituary of Philip Joseph Toffoli
Philip Joseph Toffoli, age 76, of Duluth, MN, passed away on Monday October 4, 2021 at Essentia St Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. Phil was born on January 25, 1945 in Duluth, MN to Reno and Lois Toffoli. Phil attended St Johns School and graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1964. Phil married Michele (Lowney, Enright) in Duluth, MN on February 25, 2009. Phil was in the Army National Guard. Phil worked as a millwright on the BNSF Railroad, retiring in 2002. In high school Phil played baseball and was a standout hockey player. He was a big fan of the MN Twins, Wild, and Vikings. Phil was an excellent cook, being Italian and proud of it! He loved grocery shopping, rummage sales and bird hunting with his Britney spaniels, Ben and Red. Phil’s greatest lifelong passion was fishing. Year round, he did it all. He was known as King of the Knife River. He had many secret spots that he vowed he would take with him and he did. Sorry guys.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Michele; daughter, Sarah (Luis) Lugo of Santa Clarita, CA; daughter, Beth Austin of Duluth, MN; son, Joe (Michelle) Austin of Duluth, MN; Beth and Joe’s mother, Christine Austin; stepson Aaron Enright; brothers, Mike (Candy) Toffoli of Clear Lake, MN; John (Judy) Toffoli of Goodland, MN; grandchildren, Tony, Mya, Matthew, Elisa, Lydia, Nadia, and Tahlia; step grandchildren, Madison, Mason, and Kelsey; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Reno and Lois Toffoli; and Sarah’s mother, Bonnie Minck.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday October 14, 2021 at 10:00 am with visitation one hour prior at Cremation Society of Minnesota Duluth Chapel 4100 Grand Avenue Duluth, MN 55807.
