Obituary of Gary Allen Makowsky
Gary Allen “Moose” Makowsky, age 63, passed away on September 5th, 2021 at Bayshore Residence and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth, MN. Gary was born in Duluth on April 3, 1958. He graduated from Denfeld High School and worked for Chinese Lantern and Essentia Health.
Gary had a passion for stock car racing and enjoyed playing sports including touch football, softball, baseball and bowling. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church and was active with the Men’s Camp. Gary was also a volunteer coach for the Salvation Army Church basketball and Merritt Memorial softball youth leagues as well as the Boys and Girls Club.
Gary is survived by his mother, Betty, sister, Carol and brother, Russell Douglas Timothy. He is also survived by his stepson Aaron Pomither (Ellie), grandchildren Hannah, Raegan and Molly, great-grandchildren Jaxon and Hadley, nieces Deanna Casablanca (Valentine) and Heather Clement, nephews Corey Miller and Dan Clement (Kali) and close friends Tim Bowman, Marian Clement, Jon Nelson, Nick Marich, Paul Wrazido and Janet Severin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, wife, Arlene, and infant son, Gregory.
The family would like to thank Garden Terrace Assisted Living in Wrenshall and Bayshore in Duluth for their quality care.
A memorial service will be held on October 20, 2021 at 2:30pm at the Salvation Army Church located at 215 S 27th Avenue W, Duluth MN 55806. Flowers can be sent to the Salvation Army Church.
