Obituary of Sharon Kay Stauffer
Sharon passed away due to a stroke on September 27, 2021. Born in Lockhart Minnesota to Betty June Krabbenhoft on September 20, 1942 and raised by her grandparents John and Sophia Krabbenhoft until Betty wed Fred Emory Nelson in 1946. Sharon was then raised by her loving “dad” Fred and mom who grew their family with Eddie (Colleen) Nelson, John (Vicki) Nelson, Linda (Loren) Peterson, and Kathie (Dave) Morelos.
Sharon’s parents taught her about our loving creator Jehovah God and the generous ransom sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ. This motivated Sharon to dedicate her life to Jehovah in 1954 at the age of 12. Upon graduation from high school she demonstrated her deep love for her God by volunteering 100 hours per month teaching her neighbors the beautiful promises held out in the Bible. During this 7 years as a full-time minister, she became reacquainted with Paul Duncan Stauffer, the love of her life. Sharon and Paul dated by letter and had one annual date for 5 years while Paul was a volunteer at the Worldwide Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn NY and was assigned work as a lead pressman. They wed on April 6, 1968 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. During their nearly 50 years of marriage, they enjoyed raising four daughters, Pamela (Scott) Tuominen, Amy (Cory with children Charlie, Lily, Henry) Griffin, Laurel Stauffer, and Sabrina Stauffer. Sharon and Paul focused on teaching their girls the precious truth of the Bible and God’s Kingdom. One way they did this was leading by example. Sharon cherished being a mom. She enjoyed bringing her girls to piano and swimming lessons, and teaching life skills such as sewing, cooking, baking, and shopping.
By 2009 Sharon was confined to home due to disability. Sharon’s focus on God’s Kingdom never wavered. Her dear youngest daughter was primary caregiver for both Sharon and Paul (who passed away on March 30, 2018). During these final years, she enjoyed watching and rewatching all the movies on jw.org and continued active in her ministry the rest of her life. Sharon throughly enjoyed the company of many visiting friends and had a special spot for the family dogs she dearly called “my puppies”, Ernie and Emma.
There will be a virtual memorial service for the safety of family and friends held by the Two Harbors Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 6th at 2pm. Please email sharonkstauffermemorial@gmail.com for an invite.
