Obituary of David John Klemenhagen
David J. Klemenhagen was born August 30th, 1962 in Robbinsdale, Minnesota to Joseph L. Klemenhagen and Neoma F. (Minke) Klemenhagen. He died on September 24th, 2021, with family by his side, at Our Lady of Peace in Saint Paul, Minnesota, due to complications from a 3-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
David grew up in Crystal, Minnesota and graduated from E.J. Cooper Senior High School in New Hope, Minnesota. After high school, he earned a certificate in photography from Hennepin Technical College while apprenticing at a local studio. David became a professional photographer and stayed in the field for over 25 years, eventually operating his own studio, 'David J Photography', on Bass Lake Road in Plymouth, Minnesota.
David was an avid outdoorsman. He dedicated much of his time to hunting, fishing, and camping with his friends and family. He also enjoyed hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing and canoeing in parks throughout Minnesota and the western United States. In his final years, David was especially fortunate to spend time with the love of his life, Lynn, as they traveled to many beautiful destinations. They were married near Lake Tahoe, Nevada on September 8th, 2018.
David's favorite phrase was, "It's not what you know, it's who you know", and this sentiment remained true for every year of his life. He will be remembered for his loyal, enduring friendships by those who knew him best.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Neoma Klemenhagen, and his brother, Bob Klemenhagen.
David is survived by his wife, Lynn Empanger Klemenhagen of Maple Grove, Minnesota; daughter, Juliann Klemenhagen of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; son, Connor Klemenhagen of Fort Riley, Kansas; brother, Tom Klemenhagen and his wife, Cindy, of Alexandria, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Susan Klemenhagen of Coos Bay, Oregon; sister, Nancy Klemenhagen of Tampa, Florida; sister, Sue Catanzaro and her husband, Frank, of Gilroy, California; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends.
A private memorial service will be held at Lynn and David's home on Saturday, October 9th, 2021 from 1:00-2:00pm, followed by an open house from 2:00-4:30pm.
