Obituary of Mark I Polson
Mark I. Polson, 62, of Duluth passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021. Mark was born in Duluth to Robert and Dorothy Polson and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1977. He started working for Zenith Dredge while in high school and later took a job with Duluth Brass. He made his career as a heavy equipment supervisor for DM&IR / CN railroad for 20 years, and with Cleveland Cliffs at United Taconite for 8 years. He started the “best job he ever had” when he retired this past October.
Mark married the love of his life, Kathryn Johns on June 16th, 1984. He spent many wonderful years with his wife and kids, enjoying time at the lake, hunting, family vacations, and playing cards. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandson Theo.
Mark was a true family man, a tremendous role model, and the definition of a good Samaritan. He was always eager to help others with projects, no matter the size. He touched countless lives, and left a lasting impact on each and every one. Any stranger he met would leave as a friend.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Dorothy, and sister Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of 37 years, daughter Kristine (Joel Siler), son David (Kristina) and grandson Theo, sister Jean (David Crews), brother Ken (Kim) and many other loved ones.
