Delores Voigt

Obituary of Delores Voigt

Delores Ann Voigt, 91, passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2021, with family by her side.

She was born September 8th, 1930 in Bovey, MN to George and Alvilda (Jacobson) “Shorty” Dippold. She grew up on the Danube Mine Location near Bovey, MN and graduated from Greenway High School in Coleraine, MN. She was a current resident of Cotton, MN for the
last 51 years.

She was a member of the Cotton Community Church and worked many jobs, such as a nurse’s aide at the hospital in Grand Rapids, MN, at the Target grocery store (Applebaum’s) in Duluth, MN, cleaned the office for Jeno Paulucci, worked at the Cotton Country Store, and worked many years at the Cotton School in the kitchen where she retired in 1995. However, her favorite job title was “Grandma”. You didn’t have to be a grandchild by blood. If you were a kid she knew then she was “Grandma” and you’re getting a hug and a cookie. She always hosted and cooked for her huge family for all the holidays. She loved everybody and everyone she met loved her. She was always ready with a hug.

She had many interests like cooking and baking, rock picking, attending all of the grandkids sporting events and anything outdoors. She was camping, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling and 4 wheeling well into her 80’s. Her adventurous spirit and love of family will be greatly missed.

Delores is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald Voigt, children Ronald Smith (Nita), Beverly Carlson (Ron), Ray Voigt (Veronica) and Carrie Weiberg, daughter in laws Janet (Gary) McClain and Rachel Voigt, son in law Dennis Hage,14 grandchildren, 25 great
grandchildren, with one on the way and 4 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her special friend Gail Paulus who visited her almost everyday while she was at Heritage Haven, and her puppy Callie. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Violet Fremont-Hove and Olive Polzin, sons Jerry Smith and Bruce Voigt, and daughter Barbara Hage.

Keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service.   She would prefer if you simply remember her zest for life and love for you all.
