Doris Drossel

Obituary of Doris June Drossel

Doris June Drossel (Glauvitz), 76, born in Belgrade, MN to Lillie and Herman Glauvitz.  She graduated from Belgrade High School in 1963. Shortly after that she moved to St. Paul, got married, started her career at Northwest Airlines, and started her family.

Doris loved fishing, the Twins, baking, and most of all, her family.  She was always looking for an excuse to enjoy one of those things.  While not a “professional” baker, you would never know it by the look or taste of her creations. From holiday cakes to birthday and wedding cakes, Doris was many people’s go-to baker! And from April through September her television or radio would always be on the Twins. Nothing excited her more than to hear the words “Touch Em’ All” after a home run.

Over the last several years she made sure to spend the summers fishing and visiting with her family. Having everyone congregate at her house in Belgrade brought her happiness.  Supporting her grandkids was always important to her.  Whether she hosted a sleepover, sat in a gym for a dance competition/recital, basketball, wrestling, or was at the field for a soccer, football, or a baseball game, she was there to be a “Superfan”. The pride on her face as she watched her grandkids was priceless.  Those events will definitely not be the same without her, and she will be greatly missed.

Doris was a beloved wife, mother, sibling, aunt, and friend to so many. She is survived by her Husband of 54 years, Roy, her children, Sharon Drossel Vukas, and Chris Drossel (Melissa), her grandchildren Emily and Steven (Sinko) Vukas, and Nolan and Lexi Drossel.  She is also survived by her siblings, Marvin Glauvitz (Jeni), Emil Glauvitz, Joanne Nelson, Marilyn Robbins (Jerry), and Barb Wharton (Gary), along with countless other nieces, nephews, and others. Doris was preceded in death by parents Lillie and Herman Glauvitz, and sisters Evy Roisum and Lorraine Kuperus.

The Family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. John’s in Maplewood for their wonderful care in her last weeks as well as The Waters of Oakdale Senior Living for making her feel so welcome and giving her a home these last four and a half years. To Fresenius Kidney Care of Woodbury for helping her to be as healthy as possible. And to the doctors and nurses at Woodwinds Specialty Care and Healtheast Oakdale.
