On Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, Kay (Katherine) Rose McMillen left this world to be reunited with family and friends in the Kingdom of God. Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne “Mac” ; parents Cecilia and Richard Byrne; siblings Jimmy Byrne, Alice (Clem) Groh, Mille (Eddie) Zika, Lucille (Ronnie) Stratton, and brother-in-law Tom Matejcek She will be greatly missed by many, including sister Mary Matejcek; children David (Cindy) McMillen, Pat (Val Tyler) McMillen, Mark (Laurie) McMillen, and Kelly (Michelle Locken) McMillen; Grandchildren Megan McMillen, Nicole (Kyle) Fuerst, Josh McMillen, Tyler McMillen, Ryan McMillen, Brandon McMillen; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Kay was born on July 13, 1932 and loved all her time spent on the family farm in St. Thomas Minnesota. Kay left the farm to pursue her dream to care for others. She graduated from nursing school and eventually moved to Savage, Minnesota to raise her family with Mac. Kay was the epicenter for not only her family, but also her Savage neighborhood. Kay was the go-to person for her children and all the neighborhood kids who needed first-aid or a mother’s touch. After Mac’s retirement, they moved to their beloved home in rural LeSueur where Kay lived until moving to Praha Village in New Prague. While in LeSueur Kay once again served as a source of care and comfort to nursing home residents and those in need. When Kay moved to Praha Village, all staff quickly became her family. She easily connected with staff and residents, leaving an imprint on all of them. Kay’s zest for life and uplifting philosophies will never be forgotten by those who knew her. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM, Saturday, October 2nd at St. Thomas Church, 24609 St. Thomas Rd., Le Sueur, MN with a visitation 1 hour prior. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Hospital
