Obituary of Charles Joseph Ossanna

Charles (Chuck) Joseph Ossanna, 76, of Hermantown, died Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Chris Jensen Health & Rehabilitation Center. Charles was born on February 4, 1945 in Duluth to Edward and Elizabeth (Thomas) Ossanna. He grew up in West Duluth (Raleigh Street) and worked at the Steel Plant until it closed. Then started his career as a marine engineer for the US Steel Fleet and then retiring from American Steamship Company as a First Assistant Engineer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, teaching woodworking to his granddaughters while volunteering at St. James Catholic School. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles and watching the Vikings with his dogs.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stephie Ossanna; his sister, Betty Galinski; his brother and best friend, Tom Ossanna; and granddaughter, Hannah Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; son Michael (Elizabeth) Ossanna; daughter, Cecelia (Daniel) Ferguson; two sisters, Barbara (Robert) Sanders and Dolores Nesgoda; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Joe) Califano; Stepchildren, Josh Gault and Korri Fralich; nephew, Don Baxton; and nine grandchildren, Michaela, Maria, Stephanie, Gabrielle, Trey, Calvin, Michael, Arianna, and Harris; many nieces, nephews; his dog, Bear.

Visitation will be at 10am Tuesday September 14, 2021 with funeral services to follow at St. James Catholic Church 715 N 57th Ave W, Duluth. Burial at Oneota Cemetery-Duluth and luncheon to be served at American Legion Post 71, 5814 Grand Ave, Duluth.
