Obituary of Helen McCollum

Helen McCollum passed away peacefully on September 13, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born Aug 10, 1941 to Sam and Stella Janovick.

Helen graduated from Central High School, (Superior, WI), in 1959, being a member of the Drum & Bugle Corp. Helen married Roger Bruce McCollum in 1961 and owned Helen’s Place Restaurant in Gary New Duluth until their retirement in 2000. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Duluth, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Sam and Stella; husband, Roger; brothers, Jim, Stanley; sisters, Lucille, Marion and Delores.

Helen is survived by her sister, Phylis (Frank) Jones and brother, William Janovick; four children, Terri Lynn McCollum, Janet Marie Udean, Mary Jo McCollum and James Stanley McCollum (Kelly); three grandchildren, Erik, Jessica and Ashley; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept 23, 2021 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Duluth with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Superior.
