Obituary of Lori Ann (Randall) Cross

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Lori Ann (Randall) Cross. On August 20th, we lost our Lori in a swimming accident on Lake Superior.

Lori was born December 7, 1962 to William and Loretta Randall. After graduating from Duluth East in 1981, she went on to complete both her undergrad degree and Masters degree in Healthcare Administration at UMD. Lori embarked on an incredible career with Essentia Health that would proudly take her through the next 30 years of her life.

The greatest joy of Lori’s life was undoubtedly the birth of her two children, Bryton and Cira (CC). All who knew her will agree that no one wanted to be a mother more than Lori. After many years of waiting, Bryton David Nicholas Lutzka finally made his arrival on December 29, 1996. And soon after, Cira Lynne Lutzka arrived with a great fanfare on June 13, 1998.

Later in life Lori found new love... Gary Cross. They married on October 15, 2013 and moved to Knife River. On any given day, rain or shine, you would find Lori fishing, hunting and tending her beautiful flowers.

Lori will be missed by so many: her husband Gary Cross, children Bryton Lutzka (Baily Swor) and Cira "CC" Lutzka (Dan Weiser) and stepdaughter Casey Cross. Also, her mother Loretta Randall, siblings Scott (Jill) Randall, Cathy (Dan) Markham, Amy (Andy) McClure and walking partner Bentley.

Lori will always live in the crisp fall air, the warm summer sand and the snow on an ice-covered lake. There she will always be... swimming out to touch the moon. Although we mourn our mother, our daughter, our sister, our friend, there is peace in knowing where we can find her.
