Gary W. Weimar age 75 of Silver Bay, died April 1, 2021, after a brave battle with cancer. He is survived by his daughter, sisters, and a large extended family.
At age 17, Gary joined the Army, serving in South Korea. Later, he served in the 257th MPC, MNARNG. In 1969, Gary began a 28-year career with the Minneapolis Police Department, serving in many roles – including: street officer, homicide detective, and retiring as a sergeant in the 2nd precinct (NE). Interment will be at Ft. Snelling on August 26th at 9:45am. Following internment, there will be a celebration of life lunch at the Forest Lake American Legion beginning at 11:30.
Update on 8/23/21 per Stephanie -- "All – one final update in advance of Thursday (8/26) for Dad’s (Gary Weimar) services.
He is scheduled for internment at 9:45am at Ft. Snelling on Thursday (8/26). Lineup will be in Assembly Area #2 around 9:35am, and we will proceed to committal shelter #2 upon their direction. The ceremony will be held to no more than 30 minutes based on their schedule and will be led by his dear friend Ron.
There will be a celebration of life lunch following the internment at the Forest Lake Legion (355 W Broadway Ave, Forest Lake, MN 55025) starting at 11:30am. Dad was a member there and loved the people – he also loved a good meal shared with friends and family. All will be welcome to join.
If you are not able to make it (for whatever reason) please know we feel the love from near & far. COVID has made the last year unpredictable and challenging, we understand! In lieu of attending, I know dad will be present if you pray for him in church, cheers him at the bar, or look for him in nature."
