Obituary of Dick Neighbor
Dick Neighbor of Bloomington, MN born 2/6/50 to Chuck and Betty Neighbor in Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away unexpectedly due to heart failure on August 9, 2021. He was a loving husband, wonderful dad and fun "Gpa". His biggest joy was spending time with his family. Dick attended Cornell College where he met his wife and forever friend, Mary Ann. He had a long, successful career at TCF Bank but his real love was music. He received a music degree from Cornell and was a church organist for over 50 years, playing at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church for 44 years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and genuinely cared for those around him.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ann, his two daughters, Beth Erickson (Dan) and Kate Berger (Mike), his grandchildren, Carl, Julia and Jake, step-granddaughters Katelyn and Paige, his sister Pat Betterton (John), sister-in-law Linda Neighbor, brothers-in-law, Phil and George Chalmers, cousins, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jon Dixon. He taught us to laugh and enjoy life. He was simply the best and he will be forever missed.
A celebration of life will be Monday, August 23rd at 2 pm at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church (5760 Portland Ave S 55417) Minneapolis. We kindly ask that you wear a mask at the celebration of life. If you have been vaccinated you are invited to a reception immediately following the service and children are welcome at the Sheraton Hotel in Bloomington. The church is under construction so the reception will be the opportunity to connect with the family and share fun stories about Dick. Details for both are listed below. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Diamond Lake Lutheran Church Pipe Organ Restoration Fund.
