Obituary of Rita Domke

Domke, Rita of Edina passed away peacefully on July 30th, 2021, at the age of 91. She attended St. Joseph's Academy (1947) and College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. Rita loved her family. For 61 happy years she was married to Edwin, who died in 2011. They have eight children. Rita and Ed traveled extensively. Rita liked to play a social game of bridge and at the age of 90 tried her hand at Mahjong. She loved to noodle around a pool followed by soaking in the hot tub. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Preceded in death by Edwin, the love of her life. Parents, Joseph and Mary Cecelia Fischler. Brothers, Joseph (Lucille) and Robert Fischler. Sister, Josephine Freiseis (Francis (Bud)). Brother-in-law, Paul Hagen. Survived by sisters, Floreen Hagen and Mary Keyport (Robert). Sister-in-law Clarice Fischler. Sons, Gregory, William, Steven (Lisa), Edwin Michael, and James (Jean) Domke. Daughters, Ellen Schwandt (Gerald), Jean Coutts (Walter) and Susan Edmunds (Robert). Grandchildren, Michelle & Ryan Domke, Katherine, Charles (Stephanie) and Richard (Meghan) Schwandt, Trevor and Anna Coutts, Bridget Young (Chris), Matthew Babcock and Elisabeth Grambsch (David), Madeline and Sydney Domke. Great grandchildren, Edwin and Otto Schwandt, Addison and Kaylee Schwandt, and Eleanora Grambsch. Service Wednesday, August 18th at 11AM at St. Patrick's Church, 6820 St. Patrick's Lane, Edina, MN 55439. Visitation one hour prior to service. Lunch following the service. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Minnesota State Services for the Blind, Communication Center. Please note that due to COVID, facemasks will be required.
