Obituary of Elizabeth Virginia Goranson

Elizabeth (Betty) Virginia Goranson, 96, of Duluth, died peacefully, Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Diamond Willow Lester Park, with her children by her side. She was born April 2, 1925 in Edina, MN, to Henry H. and Frances V. (Norquist) Gregg.

Betty graduated from St. Louis Park High School, attended Grinnell College in Iowa, and then married her high school sweetheart, Arthur (Art) John Goranson, August 15, 1947. They moved to Duluth in 1949 where they raised their four children. Betty and Art were enthusiastic bridge players, avid travelers, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the cabin with family friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Art, her parents, brother David H. Gregg, and son-in-law Greg Pedersen. She is survived by her children; Stephen (Joyce) Goranson of Houston TX, Susan (Chuck) Skinner of Billings MT, Sandra (Gordon) Linke of Colorado, and Sara (Bob Opheim) Pedersen of Duluth, MN. Nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and sister, Nancy Shehi. The proof of a well lived life is the children, friends and family we leave behind.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Diamond Willow Lester Park, and St. Croix Hospice for the care and love provided to Betty.

Due to Betty’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements entrusted to the Cremation Society of Minnesota, Duluth.
