Robert Wilson, Jr.

Obituary of Robert Timothy Wilson, Jr.

Robert "Bob" Timothy Wilson, Jr. was born in Camden, New Jersey on March 31, 1945 to Robert T. Wilson, Sr. and Mary C. Wilson. He passed away July 1, 2021 surrounded by his wife and children. Bob grew up in Chews Landing, New Jersey and moved to Minnesota to attend the College of St. Thomas. During that time, he met and married his soul mate, Sara-Jane, and settled in Minneapolis. Within weeks of graduating, Bob started working for Unisys (then Sperry Univac). He stayed with the company for over 50 years and was a mentor, golfing buddy, and friend to many.  Bob was valedictorian of his high school class, a petty officer in the Navy in Washington D.C., an around the world globetrotter for both work and pleasure, and a member of flying and social clubs. He joined Dharma Field Zen Center in 2007 and was actively involved in the community, leading meditation instruction and performing Doan and Ino duties. Bob was generous and accepting of others, had a mischievous sense of humor, and brought curiosity to everything he approached in life. He genuinely enjoyed people and the pursuit of knowledge - especially science, philosophy, the arts, and all things Irish. When he shared what he learned with others, his enthusiasm was contagious. Bob loved biking, sailing, teaching, museums, classical music concerts, strolling in parks, and spending time with friends and family at the cabin on Madeline island. Beloved by his wife, children, grandchildren, family and many friends, Bob is survived by his wife, Sara-Jane; his children, Leah (Thom), Daniel (Sarah), and Rebekah (Jim); his grandchildren, Senna, Sean, Lily, Charlotte, Ronan and Madeline; his sisters, Dolores and Pat; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
