Obituary of Carole L. Herubin

On Friday July 2, 2021. Carole L. Herubin, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 86. The family would like to thank all the great staff at Superior Rehabilitation Center for their hard work and compassionate care.

Carole Herubin was born on December 22, 1934, in Superior, WI to Helmer and Gladys Forslund. She was a Superior resident for most of her life. She graduated from Superior Central High School in 1953. She attended UMD for one year and then attended UWS for 2 years where she was a member of the Lambda Sigma Sorority. She had been employed by the Stack Department Store in Superior, as a dental assistant in Minneapolis, and in the medical records department at the former St. Josephs Hospital in Superior.

Carole had a passion for playing the violin. She was concert master for the UWS Orchestra and played for the Park Forest Symphony while living in Kankakee. She was a prominent member of the Clef Society where she performed violin solos by Saint-Saens, Bach, Sebelius, Massenet and others. She was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church in Superior. She was an avid bridge player belonging to her bridge club for nearly 50 years. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, and gourmet cooking.

On January 25, 1958, Carole married Robert Herubin and enjoyed 47 years of marriage until his passing in 2005. She is survived by sons Robert (Brenda), Mark, Todd, and Paul (Patti), granddaughter Aimee, cousin Virginia Gramling, brother-in-law Charles Herubin, sister-in-law Lucy Hayes, sister-in-law Peggy Riebold and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Helmer (1971) and Gladys (1994) and her husband Robert (2005).

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Fall.

Memorials can be made to the American Stroke Association.
