Obituary of John L Robison

Robison, John L. age 75 of Richfield, MN, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, due to a heart attack and complications with diabetes. John was born in Liberal, KS, in 1946, and he attended 9 schools as he was growing up. He graduated from Marquette University and then participated in the Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa. He earned a Master’s Degree in Education from St. Thomas University. He was a mental health professional and teacher until retirement. Married twice, he loved his 3 brilliant children more than anything. He conveyed this love to an even greater love for his 5 beautiful grandchildren. Not only did he love reading, but he loved books, and he was known for having a book with him at all times. He loved all things French. In his retirement, he wrote poetry and tutored school children. He sought and embodied meaning, beauty and elegance throughout his life. “Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy which sustained him through temporary periods of joy.” 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Layton and Josephine. He is survived by children Jenna (John Andrew); Ben (Clarissa); and Sadie; and grandchildren Vera, Gideon, Paisley, Casper, and Sabina. 

John’s funeral will take place on Friday, July 16, at 11am, at St. Richards Church. 7540 Penn Avenue S, Richfield, MN 55423. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, July 17, from 1:00-4:00pm, at Wood Lake Nature Center. 6710 Lakeshore Dr, Richfield, MN 55423.
