Obituary of David E. Platt

David E. Platt, age 79 of Savage, passed away June 30, 2021, peacefully after an almost 2-year battle with Mesothelioma. He was born on June 30, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and moved around with his family. During his Junior year of High School, he moved to Edina, where he graduated in 1960. Dave proudly served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1960-1963; attended Macalester College, and then started an over 40-year career as a paralegal. He retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN in 1998 and moved to Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ora Lavon and Violet Velma Platt; brother Richard and loving wife Sharlene. He is survived by his son Jonathan (Marie) and daughter Libby (Dave), 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Dave enjoyed nature trekking and travel, particularly cruises and finding ALL of the ice cream machines on-board. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 11 at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Avenue S. Edina, MN. For those that cannot attend it will be streamed online. A reception will follow the service, announcement will be made for location.
