Obituary of Joel Howard Olsen

Olsen, Joel H., age 83 of Richfield, passed away June 29, 2021 from complications of diabetes. He was born in Waseca, MN and moved to Minneapolis with his family at an early age. He graduated from vocational High School in 1956 and attended Dunwoody Technical School for plumbing. Joel received his Master State Plumbing license in 1965, bought McKee-Soderlund Plumbing Company and changed the name to Joel Olsen Plumbing Company. He retired in 2002. He was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Eleanor; sister, Barbara; daughter, Lynette and grandson, Per. Joel is survived by wife of 61 years, Delores; sons, Kevin (Jane) and Jeffrey (Carol); 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Joel enjoyed working on cars, had a 1934 Ford pickup truck that he made into a street rod. He and Delores enjoyed spending part of the winter in Arizona, Texas and Florida. He also enjoyed many family vacations and holiday celebrations. Memorial service 11:00 AM, visitation 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 8 at the Cremation Society of MN, 4343 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis 612-825-2435 with interment to follow at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
