Obituary of Marjorie Jean Oren Streed

Marjorie Jean Oren Streed, 98, was born on January 10, 1923, to Edward and Agnes Oren in Duluth, Minnesota. She passed away on June 13, 2021, at Edgewood Vista Independent Living in Hermantown, Minnesota.

Following graduation from Denfeld High School in 1940, she worked for Newberry Dime Store, Snyder’s Drug, Marshall Wells Hardware and Morterude Konezny Clothing.

Marge married Wallace Axel “Bud” Streed on November 27, 1943, in Denver, Colorado. They celebrated 72 years of marriage just prior to Bud’s death in 2015.

Marge and Bud were blessed with four daughters. She was a stay-at-home Mom for many years and worked side by side with Bud when they owned and operated Eklund’s Super Valu in Proctor, Minnesota from 1955 to 1969. After the store closed, she worked in the Alumni Office of the College of St. Scholastica.

During her lifetime she enjoyed bowling, gardening, sewing and knitting. Marge was active in church activities and past president of the Proctor American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Oliver and Roger Oren, sisters Dorothy Lackie and Barbara Lindgren, sons-in-law Dr. Robert Schulz and Harley Prihoda.

Marge is survived by her four daughters, Patricia (Tom) Dunaisky, Susan (Jim) Gulbranson, Wendy (Bill) Wennberg and Linda Prihoda. She is also survived by grandchildren Wendy-Kenyon (John) Young, Jeffrey Kenyon (Shana Grzybowski), Rodney Kenyon, Chad (Brenda) Wennberg, Jason (Sonya) Wennberg, Kelsey Prihoda (Ryan Satter), Ashley Prihoda (Jeff Koenen) and Jessica Prihoda (Jacob Rowe). Great Grandchildren: Gabrielle Isa Hagstrom, Jared James Hagstrom, Lily Mary Kenyon-Myers, Spencer James Kenyon, Ely Jack Kenyon, Reece Michael James Kenyon, Jack Timothy Jeffrey Kenyon, Violet Mariah Wennberg, Nelson Owen Wennberg, Annika Oren Wennberg, Dylan Axel Wennberg, Jaysa Lynn Wennberg, Ryker William Wennberg, Ryle Brule Prihoda Satter and Alma Linley Koenen.
