Obituary of Roland Walter Vieau
Roland “Rollie” Walter Vieau, 61, died on Thursday June 17th, 2021, peacefully at home with his wife present. Rollie was born on June 16, 1960 in Duluth, MN to Walter and Ethel Mae Vieau.
Rollie grew up in Duluth and graduated from Duluth Denfeld in 1978. He worked at Lakehead Painting as an operations manager/supervisor for over 30 years. Rollie loved going to work because he worked with his family and friends, including his brother Mark and his nephews.
Outside of work Rollie’s home life consisted of fires in the yard, learning how to cook, grilling, gardening, pickling, taking the dogs swimming, rides in the side by side, endless games of fetch with Cooper; or whatever new shenanigans his wife, Angela, was up to that he happily went along with. Winters he was known for feeding the deer where you would find 20 at a time in the yard, helping everyone he knew plow their driveways, and attending his grandkids hockey games.
Rollie was a kid at heart. He loved fast cars and fireworks. He had a sense of humor that everyone loved and was a friend to all. Rollie’s one liners kept everyone laughing. Even his dry humor could make anyone smile. Everywhere he went he knew someone. He remembered everything and everyone, and had a story for each occasion, however that did not stop him from telling the same story over and over again. Rollie was known for his kind heart. The women in his life will always remember each conversation ending with “you’re beautiful, be good.” The impact he made in his short time here with us will be in our hearts forever.
Rollie is survived by his wife, Angela (Porter) Vieau, his daughters, Kara (Michael) Thro and Kelly (Josh) Wick, his step children, Chase (Taylor) Morneau, and Brooklyn Morneau. His grandchildren, Noah, Isaiah, Azariah, Norah, Benny, and Everly. His sister Cheryl Van Dell, his brother Mark (Sheryl) Vieau, and Wendy (Rusty) Marshall and his nieces and nephews. Rollie also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Carter, Cooper and Ezmay and his cats, Josie and Jemma (aka Bitters)
Rollie is preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Ethel Mae Vieau, his brother James and sister Bette Ann.
In lieu of a service, Rollie has requested that people remember and honor him in their own way and remember all the good times that they shared.
