Peter Cpin

Obituary of Peter Cpin

Fun, outgoing and with an infectious laugh, Peter (Pete) Cpin Jr, age 71, passed away on June 2, 2021 at his home in Saginaw, MN of natural causes. Son of immigrants Peter Sr. and Maria Cpin, Pete was born in Schwabishgmund, Germany on January 14, 1950. Ambitious and a people person, Pete spent his early years in Duluth, MN enjoying the outdoors and sharpening his skills by building several childhood businesses.

After graduating from Duluth Central High School in 1969, Pete served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged. Before enjoying his retirement, Pete had many entrepreneurial endeavors in his adult years as well; including Peter’s Dairy, and most recently Grand Avenue Auto. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed such as fishing, camping, wood-working, golfing, and model trains. He especially loved the outdoor adventures when he was in the company of his sons, or his brother, Walter. He always enjoyed the Cpin family picnics with his siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and of course his sons. The afternoon softball games were what legends are made of. His sons always strived to beat the old man, but in the end, Pete always managed to take the win. The rules were always subject to change.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Sr, and Maria Cpin and his brother, Walter Cpin.

He is survived by his sons, Peter III (Kristin), Mark (Alayna), and Andrew Cpin as well as his sisters Brigitte (Paul) Seese, Anna (Jim) Olson and aunt Hermina Kunicki. Pete is also survived by his grandchildren, Clara, Logan, Cayden, Zoey, Flynn, and Sydney; and many nieces, nephews, and additional extended family. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Ruth Cpin.

A Celebration of Pete’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Cornerstone Church in Saginaw, MN at 1pm, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The service will also be available live at www.ourcornerstonechurch.org. A remembrance service will be held this summer at the Polish Catholic Cemetery. Sunrise Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. To leave an online condolence visit www.sunrisefuneralhomeandcemetery.com.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Pastor Brian Swedburg and Pete’s church family at the Cornerstone church that made Pete feel so loved.
