Obituary of Edwin H Oaks
Bud Oaks (Edwin H Oaks III) Passed away on May 17, 2021 at age 74. Born March 22, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Edwin H. Oaks Jr. and Doris (Hillstrom) Oaks. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbie (Pederson) Oaks.
Bud grew up in Duluth, MN and attended Duluth East High School where he enjoyed many friends and shenanigans. He remained an active alum and loved meeting at Sammy’s Pizza up until this past year.
Bud graduated from Highland Park H.S. in St. Paul, MN 1965. He served in the MN National Guard from 1965-1969 and attended the University of Minnesota before a long career in mortgage banking. Many of those years he and his wife ran their own business. Over their years together they were devoted to three Cavalier Charles Spaniel dogs.
He is survived by three beautiful daughters: Heather (Damon) Graham, Megan Oaks, Danielle (Charlie) Fehring and six grandchildren. Also three sisters: Elizabeth Kassekert, Jinna (Ken) Cox and Barb (Skip) Swenson, and eight nieces and nephews. Bud had a special relationship for many years being a big brother to Tony Poeschel.
Bud will be remembered for his love of fast cars, fine jewelry, great steaks and cocktails, Pendleton shirts and cowboy shows. He lived life on his own terms; some will remember his life well-lived, and others for what might have been.
There will be a private memorial with family at a later date.
