Obituary of Scott Edward Mortensen

 

Scott Mortensen, “Mort / Morty”

 

Born July 27, 1959 in Ladysmith, WI. Passed away from complications of pancreatic cancer on May 13, 2021 with Denise and Olivia by his side.

Scott was a great husband, father and friend. His passions were his family, friends, MN State Fair, camping and MUSIC. Music was so important to Scott, that his friends call him, “Mr. Music”.

Scott served his country in the US Army as a Military Police and a Tower Rat. Enlisted in 1979 and served in Siegelsbach, Germany 556MP Company till 1982.  He was an Army Specialist 4th Class.

Scott worked in the automotive business when he returned to the “States”. He worked at Lehman’s for 25 years. Scott

then worked for Samaritan Tire which was his greatest joy because he got to work with his brother, Chris.

Camping was a big part our family’s lives. Scott he loved cruising around the lake in his boat and teaching Olivia how to fish. His friends were very important to him. Most of his friends were longtime friends from his childhood.

Scott’s other love was the MN State Fair. He would go multiple times each year for the food, music, and family time.

Preceded in death by mother, Shirley Moore (Jimmy); father, Carl Mortensen; brother, Merritt; mother-in-law, Darlene Lyndsley; father-in-law, Walter Lyndsley.

Survived by his wife of 27 years, Denise; daughter, Olivia;

sister, Cherise; brother, Chris (Mary); sister-in-law, Dawn;

brother-in-law, Kevin (Shannon); nieces and nephews, Alicia (Jay), Laura (Adam), Lindsay (Andrew), Michael, Madison and Julius; great nieces, great nephews and other relatives.

Public visitation will be held Saturday, May 22nd, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 31st and Chicago Avenue South, Minneapolis. Private family service to follow due to Covid restrictions. Interment to follow at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis MN. All are welcome at the cemetery.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Saturday, May 29th, 4:00 pm till last man standing at the Mortensen home.
