Obituary of Paul Eugene Yager
Paul Eugene Yager
March 25, 1939 – May 15, 2021
Paul Eugene Yager, age 82, of Eden Prairie, MN. Called home by Jesus on May 15, 2021 after complications of a stroke.
Born to Walter and Doris Yager of Ellsworth, MN. He graduated in 1957 with an impressive high school football career. After graduation, Paul moved to the Twin Cities. The Toro Company in Bloomington hired him as a time-keeper, and that started a 40-year career. Advancing to a management position within the parts and inventory department and retiring in 1999. Paul was not one to be idle for long. He took a part-time job at the Wild Golf Course in Prior Lake grooming the courses. He figured if he wasn’t building Toro lawn equipment, he might as well be mowing with it. Another hobby of Paul’s was restoring old tractors. John Deeres’ were his favorite, but a Farmall came along once or twice.
Paul was proud to have served in the military from 1961-1963. He was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, MO where he and his new wife Diane started their life together.
He was a long-time member of the Eden Prairie Lions Club. Paul was proud to be elected as a District Governor in 1990-1991. A huge honor for him was being awarded the Melvin Jones Award for humanitarian services.
Paul is preceded in death by parents, Walter and Doris and sisters, Mary, Shirley and Marjorie. He is survived by loving wife of 58 years, Diane; son, Paul Steven (Brenda); daughter, Cynthia (Jim); and youngest son, Richard (Trina); grandchildren, Jacob, Amelia, Kendra, Zachary and Olivia; step-grandchildren, Bill, Sarah and Dana; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service to be held Saturday May 22, 2021at 1:00 p.m. at Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church in Bloomington. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. Private interment for family following service.
