Obituary of Beverly Ann Helland
Beverly “Bev” Ann Helland, age 79, resident of Duluth found peace on December 29, 2020 with family by her side.
Born on February 13, 1941 to Ida and Arthur Carlson, Bev has reunited with them now in heaven.
Bev worked for decades in some of the finest of restaurants in the area including the Highland Supper Club, the Library Bar and Restaurant, and the Upper Deck. She loved working in the hospitality industry, and we remember the smiles and laughter she passed along while serving generations of office parties, wedding dinners, proms, and more all over the Duluth and Superior area.
Bev was preceded in death by her first son Terry Carl Granquist (1977) and her beloved husband of 32 years Orville L. Helland (2020). Bev is survived by her sisters; Barb (Ken) McDonlad, Bonnie (Mike) Ogston, Becky (Chris) Persgard, her children Tom (Denise Anderson) Granquist, Tim and Cindy Granquist, Toby and Michelle Tucker, Tanya Tucker. Bev and Orv shared several stepchildren and grandchildren together, they both treasured having a big family around.
They both loved life and helping the community and the area’s kids. They spent dedicated much of their time to living a great life by helping with things like raising money or helping fellow members of the Proctor Moose Lodge, by helping at the American Legion, serving pancake breakfasts at the Duluth DECC, organizing Moose Christmas parties, with so many memories built around these two great people. Beverly and Orville were taken away from us too soon.
Bev will be missed by many and she would want everyone to know that she loved her life and was very happy and proud of her family and friends. We as her family would like to extend the love and memories that we all share in our hearts, and with every memory you have of her please smile and give thanks for the time you shared.
Due to the current pandemic, a celebration of her life has been planned for this summer when people can safely gather. Please join us at the Proctor Moose, 415 3rd Ave, on Saturday July 17 at 1:00 pm for a celebration of both her life and her beloved husband Orville’s.
