Obituary of Mary Ann LaVoie

LaVoie, Mary Ann passed away on March 21, 2021 after 89 years of life filled with love, adventure and gratitude. Born in Minneapolis to Frank and Mary Preiner, she was married to Donn LaVoie Sr. for more than 40 years. Together they had three sons. Mary Ann worked for the Chicago Floral Company for over 30 years while raising her family and being a devoted wife and mother. She loved to travel and did so often with family and friends throughout the US and to countries all over the world. A special highlight was in 1974 taking her 73 year old mother back to visit "the old county" in Austria. Mary Ann often said, "make memories that will last a lifetime because they can never be taken from you". She did just that for her entire family. She will be greatly missed. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Donn, her brother Frank Preiner and her son Tom LaVoie. She is survived by her brother, Joe Preiner and her sons, Donn Jr. (Beth Bednar) and John (Baylee) LaVoie; her two grandchildren, Davis (Alex) Kosmicki and Jay (Serena) LaVoie, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave S, Edina (952-924-4100). Visitation begins at 1 PM, service at 2 PM, fellowship at 3 PM.
