Obituary of Emily Ann Tholl

Emily "Emy" Ann Tholl, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18th, 2021 at her home near Leader, MN.

Emy was born on June 18th, 1954 in Staples, MN to Woodrow "Woody" and Shirley "Margie" Shake. She grew up on a farm in Leader, MN and graduated from Staples High School in 1972. Emy was married to Steve Tholl of Motley, MN from 1973 - 2012. They owned Steve's Club bar and restaurant in Pillager, MN for 30 years and lived on the Long Prairie River in Motley. Emy went to vocational school for accounting, was on the Lakewood Health Hospital Board for a few years, and was a longtime member of the Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader, MN. She loved reading and always had her nose buried in a good book. She always said it was her way of traveling anywhere in the world. She also enjoyed the outdoors, planting flowers, swimming, horseback riding, sightseeing, and traveling to warm places. Emy loved her family, friends, and especially helping others. She was a caretaker at heart and always stepped up to take care of those around her. She had a smile that could light up a room, a heart of gold, and she truly touched so many lives. Emy was thoughtful, sweet, caring, selfless, and held her ground when she felt passionate about something. She will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Emy is survived by her three children: Chastity (Roger) Winslow of Big Lake, MN, Taija (Jake) Peck of St. Cloud, MN, and Ryan Tholl of Nisswa, MN; six grandchildren: Zyanne, Devin, Wyatt, Mariyah, Maizie, and Jack; four siblings: Betty (Steve) Lorber, Jo Pollock, Denise (Steve) Bickford, Larry Shake, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings: Gary, Steve, and Sherry Shake, and one grandchild: Courtney Winslow.

Emy did not want a funeral service so we hope that you can join us for a Celebration of Life at the Ten-Hi Bar in Motley, MN on Saturday May 22nd, 2021 from 2-6pm. Food and refreshments will be served. If you have any pictures of Emy or good stories that you would like to share please feel free to bring them. We hope to see you there!
