Obituary of Richard Shawn Callahan

Much loved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend died Saturday, April 3, 2021 at age 52 at his home in Cloquet, MN. Known for love of music, quick wit, & thirst for knowledge, he was a driven autodidact in the fields of philosophy, psychology, science, and religion. He would spend many hours reading, studying, collecting and organizing information. Rick was a graduate of Duluth East (1987) and in high school  was known as “Cal” and considered the life of the party. He was a showman to friends and family and loved to entertain with magic tricks, trivia, and jokes. 

Rick is survived by his parents William J. Callahan and Pamela (Donald) Foster, siblings Christina (Nick) Mullozzi, John Callahan, Roger Callahan, and Catherine Callahan. He is also survived by his niece Adrianna Mullozzi, and nephews Tyler, Bennett, and Joseph Mullozzi, aunts and uncles Marsha and Rick Ness, Theresa and Alex Fane, and Maria and William Brice, and special friend Sandy Williams. 

Rick was preceded in death by grandparents Jack Neander and Eleanor (Blomberg) Callahan, William Rhodes and Bernadette (Thureson) Brice, and Uncle Michael & Aunt Phyllis (Nelson) Callahan. Private service to be held at a later date. Memorials can be donated to The Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation.
