Obituary of Susan Ann Graham

Graham, Susan Ann, age 80, of Minneapolis. Born August 13, 1940, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2021.

Preceded in death by husband George Kraker and parents Frederick Graham and Ruth Embrey (Sandell). Survived by children Eric (Kathi) Graham, Elliott Graham (Cynthia Conley), and Chelsey May; sister Connie (Dean) Sears; grandchildren Thomas, Jamil, Rebekah, Ayjiah, Matthew, Ishmael, Joshua, and Sahmar; and great-grandchildren Grace, Leianna, Charlotte, and Lorelai.

Susan had a long and fulfilling career in nursing, first as an RN, then as a nurse anesthetist for over 20 years, and finally working for a nurse helpline and various clinics. Like many women of her generation she was skilled in numerous domestic arts, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and canning. Susan faced life’s many challenges and tribulations with grit, determination, and humor, and she once remarked that raising her three children was her greatest and most rewarding accomplishment. She and her husband George spent 25 years together on their beautiful lakefront property in Minneapolis, where they loved watching nature unfold in their backyard in the company of a succession of pet dogs and cats. As Susan put it, they kept “the party” going for as long as they could.
