Obituary of Vanessa Linn Porter

Vanessa Linn (Jones) Porter passed away on February 23, 2021 in Minneapolis, at the age of 60. She was a resident of North East Minneapolis. Vanessa was born on  November 10, 1960  in Breckenridge, MN, to Herbert L Jones, and Lucy (Alsbury) Jones. Vanessa graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1978.  She worked at a variety of jobs during her lifetime before settling in at Intercomp in Medina where she spent over 20 years doing electronic assembly for industrial scales for agriculture, Nascar, and government contracts. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In her younger years, Vanessa enjoyed local dirt track racing, any MN sports team, fishing and bowling.  Lately she had spent all her time with friends, family and great nieces and nephew.. She loved being called ‘Auntie Nessa’. Preceded in death by her father, Herbert Jones;  grandparents, Randy Alsbury, Norma (Alsbury)Taylor, Verne Taylor, Albert Jones, Georgianna (Merced) Jones, sister and brother-in-law, Rick and Loretta (Jones) Tomshack. Survived by her loving fiance Dean Iacono of Minneapolis; mother, Lucy Jones of Minneapolis; Step mother, Anna (Porter) Jones of Fort Myers, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Sonny Jones and Julene Becker Jones of Burnsville. Also close relatives Sheryl McCoskey, Victor and Darla Harmasz, Kenneth and Gayle Porter-Johnson, many nieces and nephews, close friends and co-workers. Due to the pandemic, there are no immediate plans for a wake or funeral.  We ask that you all remember Vanessa in your hearts.  We are planning a memorial service in April or May to get together and share stories and memories of Vanessa.  We want lots of food, lots of drinks, lots of laughter, lots of tears and lots of people to gather to remember this great lady. We will post a notice on Facebook as soon as the plans are solidified.
