Obituary of Mary Ellen Picard

Mary Ellen Picard, age 80, of Superior, Wisc. passed away on January 30, 2021. Mary was born January 31, 1941 in Bemidji, MN., the daughter of Dr. Charles and Gene Picard. Mary grew up in Superior and then started her professional career in the Milwaukee area by becoming an LPN. In 1979 she was called home to give nursing care to her mother and ultimately to her father. Along the way she gave so much help to hundreds of people in the Superior area.

She attended St. Francis Catholic Church in East End Superior and helped out there for many years. Mary enjoyed being in the outdoors and was one of Superior’s great environmentalists with her volunteer work at Wisconsin Point in Superior.

Preceding Mary in death are her parents and brother, John of Las Vegan, Nevada.

Surviving are her sister, Sylvia Murphy (Larry) of DePere, WI; brothers, Charles Picard (Carol) of Crookston, MN and Albert Picard (Lisa) of Superior, WI; sister-in-law, Cora Picard; and very special friend, Sharon Shuck.

A service will be held in the spring with a Funeral Mass at St. Francis Catholic Church. Her ashes will be interred with her parents in Iron River, WI.
